A little while ago I opened up a thread on the Toronto board of the NaNoWriMo forums, asking if anyone else was keeping a blog of their NaNoWriMo efforts. There were quite a few intriguing responses, some polite demurrals, one post that I think was a snarky rebuff, and one discussion about Star Trek (check out the thread, if you’re curious).
Here I’d like to highlight some of the more interesting blogs (and one interesting not-blog) I was introduced to:
- NaNoWriMo-ing Orangevillian Tabitha (aka TheTabster) has already started sharing thoughts—including an intriguing excerpt from her ongoing project, The Thirteenth Dimension—on her blog, Leather Bound Journals and Brightly Coloured Pens
- Raven-haired Toronto NaNo-er Kae McCrae (aka LePipette) is co-writing Cynosure, a horror novel, and will be posting updates on her blog The Dialogue
- Self-described “on-again off-again smut writer” (double entendre?) Meghan Handcock (aka maja_dren) is currently seeking input and advice on her blog The Brazen Impudent Harlot
- And finally, in not-blog news: Scarborough NaNoWriMo-er Highlander_of_the_Bluffs has set up a Twitter account for his novel’s main character. I’m a huge fan of experimenting with this kind of multimedia in fiction, and I look forward to seeing what he does. Check it out @TorontoPhoenix
So there you have it: plenty of creativity to go around this November.
