And so it has begun! NaNoWriMo 2010 is already twelve hours in, and I know more than a few people got started at the stroke of midnight. It’s going to be an interesting month.
There’s been a lot going on here at Stranger Than Truth in the past couple weeks, with our writing team ballooning to nearly a dozen—plus injuries, rivalries and more. So I thought now would be a good time to give a quick recap, in case you’ve missed any of the drama or the great short fiction that we’ve been posting in its wake. Read on and familiarize yourself with the incomparable team that is Stranger Than Truth.
- Ekstasis Amor, the latest member of the team, has some lofty and thoroughly deconstructed plans for his NaNoWriMo effort
- Drew Beaudoin, a Toronto NaNo mod, is taking the high road and snowflaking his novel
- Michael Bulko will be trying his hand at fantasy and adventure, but not the crappy stuff
- Tim Dallimore joins us all the way from the Yukon, where his real life is pretty interesting in its own right
- Elizabeth Kurz is already hard at work on a twisted batch of terror, fueled by her prodigious ego
- Geoff Micks, historical fiction writer by trade, will be working on something a little different. He’s also already shared two great short plays: The Artists’ Farce and Performance Evaluation
- Jon Renaut joins us as our Washington Fiction Correspondent, and will be attempting NaNoWriMo while raising a two-year-old and a five-week-old
- Halton Stoves may well forget the whole affair on his next opium binge, but in the mean time he’ll be bringing us pearls of despicable prose
- Ian Worte embarks on his second NaNoWriMo with a self-imposed iPhone Challenge that may have already been cut short by a thumb injury
- Tasty Yumyum will be working on
his novel MASSIVE FUCKJOBhis new project Dear Fiend: The Letters of Stoves & Yumyum while doing everything in his power to stop Halton Stoves. He’s already gifted us with two mindblowing bits of fiction in verse form: Salamander Dunderhead and Motorcycle Marley
And finally there’s yours truly: I’ll be sharing my NaNoWriMo plans later this afternoon, along with an excerpt of my first-day progress.
